Dear admins,
I think deleting my post was not fair. The other people who have been bashing us with MS degrees need to also have their posts deleted.
I was not offensive in anyway, I just pointed out the reality of the situation and that is not "being offensive."
If you are afraid of alienating some of your contributors, well then by deleting the posts of ppl with Masters degrees you risk alienating them.
If I offended the admin personally if he/she does not have a masters degree, I apologize for hurting your "feelings" but that does not allow you to delete my post .
Finally, since 99% of the time the admins come back with not relevant to the thread, I agree on that ground but respectfully request the deletion of posts by a bunch of others like the "hiring manager" who instigated this discussion.
Admin:
Can you also delete posts where there was some bashing of people with advanced degrees, just to make it fair? I think the whole thing was started by the guy (GCsucks) by addressing people who attend U.S universities as "Kids" and I agree with "yabadaba" that this is reality and we were just pointing out what the issues are. If it's a case of sour grapes then may be that guy should vent his frustration else where or easier GET HIMSELF AN ADVANCED DEGREE IN THE U.S

Sign the agreement get the GC and use the same agreement to sue the employer ....
Nobody can bind you in US, take care .....
Drirshad,
Thanks for the reply, Do you mean proceed with corp-to-corp between current Y(employer) and Prior-employer X(by paying h1b tranfer fee). Sign the Agreement with Employer X to continue GC and then sue them ? ?hmmm... interesting.
Before accepting an Employement with company X, if there would have been an agreement stating they will sponsor my green card (atleast the paperwork), that would have helped me.. hard luck..

I agree--make your own decision for your peace of mind. Under W2, you're an employee and your employer does the taxes. On 1099, you're self-employed and you do the taxes, and also deduct business expenses. However, being on W2 does *not* mean that you've a job for unlimited period of time. A lot of recruiters for contract jobs (e.g., a 3-month contract) give you the option of joining under W2 or 1099.--e.g., $70/hr on 1099 or $60/hr or W2. Being on W2 should *not* be construed as being on a "permanent" job.
At the end of the day, it's all a question of your peace of mind. You can take this 6-month contract on W2 and take comfort in your (wrong) thinking that you're on a "permanent" job, or you can take that contract on 1099 and (wrongly) worry that you're on a "temporary thing."
you got to make your decision dude, however, in my case, i would opt for W2. 1099 is a temporary thing... thats my opinion... you did not ask me specifically to share this, but hey, this is a public forum... :-)

he is not saying he hates india, but politicians. Hope you understand plain english !
But you watch Indian TV and see him everyday? :D
Why are you attached to India when you hate it? You want to get Green Card in USA and live here permanently. So should you not learn more about this country and culture. You cannot live in USA but think about India all the time and hate it too.

Yes, but the immigration hearings already happened. People already have a clear indication on what the public wants. Lou Dobbs is still out there reminding them. Honestly, I wish us good luck, but I am not sure.
Seems like you are indicating that public clearly against CIR: on what basis you are saying that. There was no referendum and even an election after the CIR debate. Most of the opinion polls are evenly split: if I remember correctly a popular opinion poll said that most Americans want to solve the immigration issue and they also are fine with putting illegal immigrants on path to citizenship. They also want to have more border security provisions most of these aspects are covered in CIR. Of course illegal immigration issue is controversial and CIR may never succeed in its current form irrespective of who is in control of congress. A democrat leading congress may not venture into too controversial aspects of immigration fearing a backlash during presidential elections. The backlash they fear is energizing the extreme right wing. A republican leading congress anyway wont pass CIR bill.
Thats why our best bet is SKILL bill this is relatively non-controversial, good for American industry, and supported by different groups. Of course it is very difficult.
Not sure if such an important bill will be taken up during lame-duck session. In fact the outgoing house members may actually push for some aggressive border security measures to make the process even longer than it is now. So yes.I too wish us good luck we do need it a lot.

Hi,
I am a Jul 23rd I-485 filer. Just called USCIS second time (first time no success), went thru their menu and was lucky to get a great Cust Service Rep.
She asked me the I-485 receipt #s, address, primary contact #, DOB, and Zip Code for self and spouse.
She generated a SR for us together and gave us a Conf # for FP notice. She said that you should receive a FP appt notice in next 30 days.
So I guess, perseverance does pay off :)
Hopefully we can get this FP out of the way soon enough.
FYI I am a Bay Area resident.

Well numbersusa are against any immigration and they will always use illegal immigration as the vehicle to couch and attack any form of immigration. Their ranks consist of both democrats and GOP. Generally those who are threatened by any sort of immigration. Union workers in MI would be group in sync with numbersusa. So also would be buidling workers where there is strong competition from Hispanic workers walking accross the border.
I personally think businesses have been promised action on issues after the election. If not by now businesses would have entered the fray. H1B and skill bill and also the agjobs will be definitely passed due to pressure from big businesses. Economy is strong and they are not able to fill positions.

You guys can scream, cry, sue, jump, sing, dance whatever, no one is going to touch any country cap legislation or any pro immi legislation till about 2011-12 at least (though i m sure it wont happen then either)
And they will never allow "no country cap" either-ways, call it unconstitutional or whatever, i am being realistic, they have quota on the diversity visa for a reason they think is appropriate, and they have a quota on the EB system for those same reasons.
Your only hope to get the "country cap" cleared up is that the Point based system gets through , like the one in CIR 2007, which i am sure will not happen before 2012, if it ever happens.

All the appropriations bill will be dealt by the new Democratic Congress in Jan-Feb (CR expires Feb 15). Immigratio Relief provisions can be attached to these bills...i believe there is widespread support for these among both Democrats and most Republicans
